In the spring of 2022, Jeremy Allen Miller traveled to the Sacred Valley of Peru, where he spent a year and a half living at 10,000 feet above sea level in adobe homes crafted from the earth. These homes — simple, grounded, and energetically self-sufficient — required no external energy for heating or cooling. Built from regenerative materials and fully integrated with their natural environment, they sparked a deep transformation in Jeremy’s body, mind, and creative spirit.
When he returned to Ohio — his homeland — he carried a vision: to design a home that delivered the same clarity, vitality, and deep well-being, even in a vastly different climate. This led him to the Passive House design system and ultimately to the creation of the Codex Home — a new blueprint for how we build, live, and feel.

The Passive House model delivered the energy performance Jeremy was seeking — ultra-insulated, airtight, and able to maintain comfort in both cold and hot climates with minimal energy input.
It mirrored what he experienced in Peru, where adobe homes paired with the high-altitude mountain climate required zero energy for heating or cooling — aside from the glow of a fire.
But energetic efficiency is only half the equation.
In airtight homes, the materials inside matter more than ever. Conventional construction often traps toxins — off-gassing chemicals, synthetic compounds, and mold-prone surfaces — within a sealed space, directly impacting human health.
The Codex Home replaces these materials with living, regenerative alternatives: thermally modified siding, natural wood floors finished in oils and waxes, real wood cabinetry, handmade clay tiles, and walls finished in breathable clay and lime plaster.

What is the codex?
In its simplest form, a codex is a structured body of knowledge — an ancient system of insight encoded into form.
In the Codex Home, that structure becomes a living system — one that holds the frequency of harmony between human beings and the built environment.
During the design and construction of the first Codex Home, its DNA revealed itself. Three principles emerged as the foundation of this new design language:
